LOUIS F. TERHAR



Lou Terhar is the Managing Director of Strategic Planning Advisors LLC. He was previously the President and Chief Executive Officer of Integris Metals, the largest distributor of stainless steel and aluminum in North America. Prior to joining Integris, Mr. Terhar was President and Chief Executive Officer of Indian Motorcycle Company. From 1992 to 1999, he served as President and Chief Executive Officer of The David J. Joseph Company, one of the world's largest ferrous and nonferrous metal recycling and trading companies, now a major division of Nucor Steel (NYSE: NUE).He also served as the President of SHV Holdings North America and of SHV Capital Ventures. His early experiences include serving as an officer in the United States Navy, and managerial positions with chemical manufacturer W.R. Grace and the Emhart and Black & Decker Corporations.


Mr. Terhar served as an Adjunct Professor at Xavier University in the Executive MBA Program and teaching the Capstone course, Global Strategic Thinking. He was selected as XMBA Professor of the Year in  2008, 2012, 2015, 2018 and 2021 by the Graduate students.


A Cincinnati native, Mr. Terhar holds a B.S. degree from the United States Naval Academy, an MBA from Syracuse University and a Master of Liberal Arts from Harvard University. He is a Commander, U.S. Navy (Retired) and is a former Representative in the Ohio House of Representatives  (Chairman of the Financial Institutions Committee) and Senator in the Ohio Senate (Chairman of the Ways & Means Committee). Lou is a Vietnam veteran.


Mr. Terhar has served on several boards including: Chairman of the Board of Commercium Bank,  Chairman of the Board of the Dupps Company,  Board Member of Mike Albert Fleet Management, Board Member at Pike Electric Corporation (NYSE: PIKE) where he also served as the Chairman of the Compensation Committee. He has served on several non-profit boards including the Executive Board of Dan Beard Council, BSA, the Altiora Fund, a Board member of the USO and the Board of Governors of the Council for National Policy.


Mr. Terhar is married to the former Debra Ann Tyson of Rockville, MD and they have four children and six grandchildren.
